Wawa sparks Simba

Veteran Simba defender, Pascal Wawa has said that the biggest secret of his return to the first team is due to his self-awareness in fighting for his level all the time to be able to play for the team.

Wawa was eliminated from the first team after Simba’s 3-1 defeat by Jwaneng Galaxy as he appeared to show a normal level that made some officials resentful of the result and decided to remove the Technical Bench under the sacked head coach Didier Gomes.

After the change, the Simba leadership appointed Coach Thiery Hitimana to fill the vacancy which left the veteran in the squad three consecutive matches against Tanzania Police, Coastal Union, Namungo but the arrival of new coach Pablo Franco has restored him to the first team.

Speaking to this newspaper, Wawa said “For me what I am doing is volunteering for the team until my time to leave, I am proud to be here to do what God has blessed me to do.”

He said he is aware that there are people who speak ill of him but it does not bother him or discourage him instead he continues to do his job with great vigor.

Wawa who looks like he has gone old has always been trusted by various coaches within the Lions from Patrick Aussems to now Pablo Franco.
